9:35 AM  I asked Marie if she wanted to get up for omelets.

By 10:00 AM Marie was ready to go.

For breakfast, we ordered eggs and ham omelet, but were given a plate of two eggs over easy with two thin slices of ham — about half hour later.  While waiting for our hot meal, I ate a croissant and drank grapefruit juice.

Back in our room, I read in bed – there were no other areas to lounge in our room.  The temperature seemed to same as yesterday at this time of day… in the 90’s.

4:30 PM  We left our room, and then took the Metro from Barberini to Flaminio to time going to Piazza del Popolo for tomorrow’s tour.

Less than 15 minutes later, we arrived at Piazza del Popolo and found our way to the steps of Santa Maria del Popolo church, and took some pictures.

We then took the Metro back to Spanish Steps/Spagna to shop.

  • Italian leather T-strapped shoes that Marie spotted for me
  • Tee shirt for Anthony
  • Stopped at Lush to try their new makeup line

With all that walking, we ended up at Piazza del Popolo.  Again, we took the Metro back to Spagna.  We walked back to our hotel to drop off our purchases, and then back out for dinner.

We walked to Burger King and bought two double bacon burger meals.  After waiting for our second burger to be assembled, we took our tray to a downstairs dining area.  After I set our tray down at a booth next to a group of guys dining, we were told that the area was closed.  We took our tray back upstairs and settled at a counter against a window viewing the sidewalk to people watch while we ate our dinner.  Opening my burger, I couldn’t find any bacon.   Marie’s burger had several large slices.  I took my burger back to the counter for bacon.  When I opened the bun, our server couldn’t see the bacon either, until his co-worker pointed out two shreds no bigger than the pickle slice.  With raised eyebrows, I asked, “That’s the bacon?!”  Our server nodded sadly with head in his hands; and then took the burger and brought me another.

Back in our room, I watched the Olympics, showered the heat of the day off and laundered some clothes.

Tomorrow, we tour.
